Founded in 1972, the Calgary Chorus’ membership includes the finest amateur and semi-professional singers available. Participants represent a cross-section of our community including doctors, lawyers, accountants, home-makers, lifeguards and university students, and span a wide scope of age groups. Several choristers have left the chorus to pursue professional singing careers.
Now in its 38th season, the Calgary Opera Chorus boasts a vast repertoire and has performed with numerous world-class singers, conductors and directors. Presently under the musical leadership of one of the country’s most respected chorus directors, Ms. Sandra Atkinson, the chorus remains a fundamental component in Calgary Opera’s aim to engage its audience and enhance our community through the magic of opera.
