VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
SPECIAL EVENTS/FUNDRAISERS
Casino (Elbow River) – Casinos are held approximately every 18 months and span over a two day period. No experience necessary. Casinos are an excellent way to meet new people. Approximately 13 people are required for each day/night at the casino hall so you’ll never be working alone.
Grave Gala – the Saturday night before Halloween adult costume party. Some jobs include pre-event and event raffle ticket sales, décor set-up and strike, door greeters & assisting with line ups for activities such as tarot card readers.
California Wine Fair – Feb/March wine tasting event. Assist with Silent Auction tables on the night of the event & ticket taking at the door.
A Taste of the Opera - We require greeters, coat check, wine pouring & assistance with set up/strike.
PERFORMANCES
Boutique – (Jubilee Auditorium) The boutique has CDs, DVDs, opera glasses, perfume bottles etc. It is in operation during opera productions. Volunteers will assist with set-up, sales and strike.
Performer Chauffeur – Singers, conductors and directors come from across Canada and around the world to put together a Calgary Opera performance. Volunteers will chauffeur artists from Calgary International Airport to their respective hotels and act as ambassadors of Calgary Opera.
Greeters – to be available to the audience to hand out programs and answer general questions i.e. where are the washrooms, what time does the opera pre-show chat start.
Backstage Caterers – Bake your favorite treats for the singers and musicians of the opera production and work backstage during a production or dress rehearsal. Meet the singers, conductors, musicians and directors in the production. Volunteers provide snacks for performers and crew backstage and provide catering assistance where necessary.
