Study Guide

In order to make a trip to the opera more accessible for students attending the For Students Only Dress Rehearsals, Calgary Opera provides study guides to teachers so that they can help their classes prepare for the performance they are about to see.

Opera is a living art form, combining the disciplines of music, drama, literature, dance, visual, and technical arts. The Study Guides are designed to be integrated into lesson plans in such subjects as music, history, literature and drama.

A study of the arts enhances young people’s intellectual, personal, and social development. The arts provide a rich and engaging curriculum that develops students’ abilities to understand the world and its cultures.

These Study Guides provide musical selections on CD, plotlines, Character summaries, opera terminology and much more.
