Gordon Gerrard is quickly establishing a place among Canada’s exciting young musicians. He was the
2009 recipient of the Enbridge Arts Award for Emerging Artist and he was invited to compete in the
prestigious Wigmore Hall International Song Competition 2009 in London. In recent years, he has worked
as Assistant Conductor for Opera Lyra Ottawa, Repetiteur for Vancouver Opera, Associate Music Director
for the Manhattan School of Music Undergraduate Opera Studio, and Lecturer at Iowa State University.
Maestro Gerrard is currently Resident Conductor for Calgary Opera, and staff conductor at Opera
NUOVA. He last conducted Little Women (2010) for Calgary Opera.

No stranger to Calgary Opera, Rob Herriot returns to direct La Bohème following past productions of
Turtle Wakes, The Brother’s Grimm, Cinderella, Beatrice and Benedict and The Barber of Seville. Elsewhere
Mr. Herriot has directed productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, La Bohème, Carmen, La Traviata, Don Pasquale,
La Fille du Regiment, HMS Pinafore and Pirates of Penzance, for companies across North America
including, Edmonton Opera, Manitoba Opera, Opera Utah, Connecticut Opera and Arizona Opera. Mr.
Herriot is now the Director-in-Residence for Opera-On-The-Avalon in St. John’s NFLD, where he directed
a new production of Albert Herring.

Since she was awarded five top prizes in May 2007 from the Montreal International Music Competition,
including the First Grand Prize and the People’s Choice Award, Marianne Fiset has been hailed by critics
and audience alike. In 2008, she received the “New Artist of the Year” Opus Prize and was named Young
Soloist 2008 by the Public Francophone Radios (France - Switzerland – Belgium - Canada). She was
also awarded the title “Révélation Radio-Canada Musique 2008-2009." Ms. Fiset has been heard in
productions of the Opéra de Montréal and Vancouver Opera, among others. This is her debut with
Calgary Opera.

A former member of the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, Mr. Bélanger has performed the following
roles at l'Opéra de Montréal -Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette), Gonzalve (L'heure Espagnole), Arturo (Lucia),
Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi) and the Captain (Simon Boccanegra). He recently toured France as Rodolfo
(La Bohème) and concert performances included Verdi's Requiem, Carmina Burana, Puccini's Messa di
Gloria and Mozart's Coronation Mass and Requiem. His 2011-2012 season includes - Rodolfo (La
Bohème) at Opéra de Montréal, Tybalt (Roméo et Juliette) with Vancouver Opera and the title role in
Opéra de Montréal's production of Faust. This is his debut with Calgary Opera.

Canadian Phillip Addis is praised for his creamy, bright voice and his spell-binding, sensitive
interpretations. His 2011-2012 season includes Roderick Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher (l’Opéra nationale de Paris), the Count in Nozze di Figaro (l’Opéra de Montréal), title role of Don Giovanni (Opera Atelier), and Handel’s Messiah (National Arts Centre Orchestra). Recent highlights include major
role debuts: Pélleas in Pélleas et Mélisande (l’Opéra Comique, Paris), the title role of Massenet’s Werther (l'Opéra de Montréal), and as Gugliemo in Così fan tutte (Atlanta Opera). He was last with Calgary Opera
for Little Women (2010).

Alexandre Sylvestre studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal where he successfully
obtained the “Premier Prix avec Grande Distinction.” In the 2010-2011 season, he performed for L’Opéra
de Montréal as Monterone in Rigoletto and Colline in La Bohème, as Schaunard in Pacific Opera
Victoria’s production of the Puccini masterpiece and Sacristan in Edmonton Opera’s Tosca. Other
highlights include Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Nourabad in Les Pecheurs de Perles, Duke of Verona in
Romeo et Juliette and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly for Opéra de Montréal. Further credits with
Les Violons du Roy and Quebec Symphony. This is his debut with Calgary Opera.

Born in London, Ontario, Jon-Paul Décosse first appeared as a Calgary Opera Emerging Artist in 2006.
Recent appearances include Colline in La Bohème for both Edmonton Opera and Opera Hamilton,
Buonafede in Haydn’s Il Mondo Della Luna for Opera in Concert, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte with Opera
New Brunswick, Marullo in Rigoletto for Pacific Opera Victoria, Thierry and the First Officer in Poulenc’s
Dialogues des Carmélites with Vancouver Opera, the title role of Falstaff for Opera NUOVA, and
Schaunard in La Bohème with the Canadian Opera Company.

Laura Albino has quickly emerged as one of Canada’s finest young lyric sopranos. This Distinguished
Graduate of the University of Toronto (2006) received her Masters Degree in Operatic Studies. A member
of the prestigious Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio from 2008-10, Laura’s roles included
Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), the Cook in Stravinsky’s The Nightingale and Ilia in Idomeneo. Recent highlights for this versatile singer include her debut with Kitchener’s Grand
Philharmonic Choir in Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, Mozart’s Requiem with I Musici de Montreal
and Rosalinde in Toronto Operetta Theatre’s Die Fledermaus. This is her debut with Calgary Opera.
