The Rape of Lucretia
by Benjamin Britten
In celebration of Benjamin Britten's 100th anniversary, the 2013-2014 Emerging Artist showcase premieres one his greatest works, The Rape of Lucretia.
In ancient Rome, war makes a husband's time at home scarce, but the chaste Lucretia has never betrayed her love Collantinus. The King's son Tarquinius doesn't believe that such a woman could exist and sets about to test her loyalty. Britten's highly charged opera is performed by the Emerging Artist ensemble with chamber orchestra in the intimate venue of the Arrata Opera Centre.
