Announcing Calgary Opera’s 2023-24 Season
Calgary Opera’s upcoming 51st Season will bring a sparkle to the Calgary arts scene with entertaining stories spanning from the chaos and adventure of falling in love to epic tales of power and world-domination. Following a monumental 50th season, Calgary Opera will once again assert its commitment to excellence by attracting national and international talent to provide Calgarians of all ages with Main Stage performances of the highest calibre.
The 51st season will open on October 14, 2023, with The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart’s universally beloved comedic masterpiece. Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, opening February 3, 2024, will thrust audiences into the feeling of first love, all over again. The season will close with a grand-scale collaboration that will put more than 80 Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra musicians on stage for the Calgary Opera premiere of Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold – an epic story featuring colossal reaches for power.
We are setting off boldly into our next fifty years with a season of comedy, romance, and adventure. This season has a great deal to offer to those who are familiar with opera, and to those who are experiencing opera for the first time.
