David Esteban

Mario Cavaradossi

David Esteban is an Italo-Ecuadorian lyric tenor with a strong international profile, known for his vocal clarity, musical intelligence, and expressive range across the Italian and French repertoire. He is particularly recognized for his interpretations of Don José and Cavaradossi.

In the 2026/27 season, Mr. Esteban makes his house debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, covers Cavaradossi in Tosca at The Metropolitan opera, and sings the same role in his house debut at Calgary Opera.

Last season, he appeared as Don José in Carmen at Takasaki City Theatre in Japan, sang Cavaradossi in Tosca at Teatr Wielki in Łódź, performed the title role in Faust at Stadthalle Balingen, and sang Macduff in Macbeth at Opernfestspiele Heidenheim. He also appeared at Toronto's Bravissimo – New Year's Concert at Roy Thomson Hall. 

Further recent engagements include Cavaradossi in Tosca at Stadtstheater Bremerhaven; Don José in Carmen at Casa de la Música in Quito and Teatro San Gabriel; Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona and at the Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu; Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana in Lausanne; Alfredo in La traviata with the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest and with the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater, where he also appeared in the title role of Britten's Peter Grimes and Cavaradossi in Tosca; Mozart in Mozart & Salieri at Teatro Ristori in Verona; Carlo VII in Giovanna d'Arco with the Estonian National Opera; and the Prince  in Rusalka at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
