Iain MacNeil’s recent engagements include Macbeth (title role) Theater Basel, Iago in Otello, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Oper Frankfurt, Klingsor in Parsifal, Amonasro in Aida, Prince Nikita in The Sorceress, Field Marschal Dörfling in Henze's The Prince of Homburg, and Police Chief in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Oper Frankfurt.

Iain has been a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble since the 2019/20 season where he sung Black Minister in Le Grand Macabre, Kajin in Die Ersten Menschen, The Baron in Der Ferne Klang, Johann in Werther, Dallapiccola's Ulisse (title role), Lord Tristan Mickleford in Martha, Marullo in Rigoletto, Oliver in Capriccio, Wershinin in Tri sestry, Tadeusz in Die Passagierin and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro. 

Iain also performed Der Spielmann in Königskinder Tiroler Festspiele Erl and Oper Frankfurt as well as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro at Vancouver Opera.

Iain MacNeil was part of the opera studio of the Canadian Opera Company, was awarded the Emmerich Smola Prize and has been a scholarship holder from the Richard Wagner Association, Frankfurt.
