Mariko Ohigashi
Costume Designer
MARIKO OHIGASHI is a New York- and Tokyo-based costume designer working in opera, theatre, dance, and film. She has designed numerous Off-Broadway productions, several of which received critical acclaim in The New York Times. Most recently, she was nominated for the Lucille Lortel and Henry Hewes Design Awards for SUMO at The Public Theater. Her work has also appeared in regional theaters such as Arizona Opera (AZ), Two River Theater (NJ), La Jolla Playhouse (CA), and Pioneer Theater Company (UT). International credits include The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro (ROHM Theater Kyoto); Hansel and Gretel (Suntory Hall, Tokyo); Next to Normal (Toho); and Madama Butterfly (Calgary Opera, Canada). She apprenticed with the Santa Fe Opera and Salzburg Festival (Austria) and holds an M.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
