Peter Balkwill
Puppeteer
Peter Balkwill is a co-artistic director and founding member of the Old Trout Puppet Workshop. He is also the founder and co-education/artistic director of the Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry (CAMP), and an associate professor of drama in the School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), at the University of Calgary. With the Old Trouts, Pete has been able to perform puppetry in many amazing places throughout the world, but it has been some time since he has performed in Calgary, and this is his first time on stage with the Calgary Opera; although in the past he joined the Trouts as co-director, co-designer and co-librettist for “The Ghost Opera”. He is grateful for the support of his family, Nan, Walker and Juno, and for his parents who have offered him experiences in life that became the foundation of a creative life.
