Head Coach at Calgary Opera since 2022, Emily Hamper is one of Canada’s most highly regarded vocal coaches. For over thirty years her career as opera coach, assistant conductor, and répétiteur has taken her across Canada, to the USA, and Europe, including the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Slovak National Theatre. As a collaborator for voice recitals, she has partnered many of Canada’s finest singers for presenters such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company, L’Opéra National de Paris and the Queensland Music Festival in Australia. She is an alumna of UBC, University of Toronto, the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, and winner of the Best Collaborative Pianist Prize at the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition. In the summer of 2026 Emily returned to NUOVA Vocal Arts in Edmonton as head coach for Così fan tutte, and made her Yukon debut with performances in Whitehorse and Dawson City.
